For those who love the Ranger's Apprentice series, you've probably wanted to know more about Halt got where he is. Well, this is book one of that story. Though not as compelling as Flanagan's older work, this was still a good yarn that provides a little insight into many of the well-known characters. I look forward to reading the next installment.

Quite Enjoyed the whole series
Like all the Ranger's Apprentice books it's a really great read. I really enjoyed the chance to find out more about Halt and Crowley's adventures and I really hope there will be a squeal. Ignore the recommended age range, it's a great book no matter your age.
I started the afternoon I received it and read it right through in one session. John Flanagan is like a good wine and improves with age. All the old characters bringing the book to life with lots of action and scheming. Cant wait for the next one.
