Plantronics Backbeat Pro 2 Noise Cancelling Headphones reviews

I read a number of reviews before buying this, and MA seal the deal by putting it on special =D Anyway, its lighter than I expected, the brown colour doesn't look half bad, the travel sleeve actually look and feel more like you would get from a much more expensive product, a touch of detail having a side pocket for your cables, not to mention they use actual “zip”! The sound quality is nice and clear, most importantly the ANC works well and no weird noise like some other ANC products I got. I have an oversize head and it still fit comfortably even after 2 hrs of use. It is well worth it even at all price.

I am really happy with the headphones, the are really comfortable, have a nice sound and they were a really good price

In wired/passive mode, the sound quality has very clear treble and with a bit of bass, however, you will want to switch on the headphones as it will give you the best listening experience.

If you have an equalizer app on your phone. You can make your bass very deep without any sound distortion. Even on max volume on headphone and phone.

Sensors dont work well in gym environment, depending on your bump motions, it will trigger the pause/play randomly, same with yawning. Battery can last up to 5+ days even when leaving it on but not using it. The build quality doesnt feel flimsy at all, especially where the swivel point on where the cups are, they feel like they will last a while, its not weak plastic that you see on most headphones. Cushions are in between soft and hard, so spec users, beware of ear pain after extended use. The media controls dont work in all apps.

Review is done mainly via bluetooth on a S6+ with equalizer app Music genre listened; trance and many sub genre of trance.

Wanted to buy these for awhile, they finally came on special so I did. Best buy in years. These work like a charm at home or in the gym they are comfy and durable. The noise cancelling is not that great but it is noticeable but it is not as good as my Sony MDR770 noise cancelling was. All round would totally buy again, good price for what you get.

Premium feel, super comfy, good sound and noise cancelling, good carry bag, awesome battery life (lasts over a week using every day for a few hours, can pair to three devices, seamless use with iPhone and iPad. Only complaints are Bluetooth codec crashes sometimes when trying to pair with my work laptop running win 7 for Skype for business and a slight movement rattle in the left ear when walking fast – but really I'm picking. Would recommend to all as a great buy!

What can you say when you get something at a great deal and deliver to your door way earlier then the ETA. 10 out of 10. Good product and great service definitely visit Mighty Ape in future.

Very good build quality, decent sound and quite comfortable, not as comfortable as the Hyper X cloud 2(although nothing is). Kinda small ear cups, its a little annoying but not too bad.

Would recommend for gym and travel use.

These are very comfortable, the only downside is that the range of volume isn't great, sometimes they are too quiet at max volume.

Sound quality is great for the price. Easy to operate, pairs well with android phone

Great sounds, battery life and noise cancelling. Very light and comfortable to wear and almost silent on a recent flight thanks to the active noise cancelling.

Really comfortable and block noise well. Love being able to go wireless when listening at work. Volume controls on headset don't work when they are plugged into PC so you'll need a bluetooth dongle. Volume controls are not very responsive. Feels either really loud or really quiet. Would not purchase another pair. Headphones have now started pausing and unpausing randomly, sound sometimes stops working and I have to unpair them from my device and turn them off, restart and re-pair to get sounds working again.

These are my first headphones I spent over $100 and I can say they are ok, price is a little to high for the quality with the fake wood. Good packaging and design. I don't know how they will go in a hot summer day since sticking to your ear since I go to the gym and walk quite a bit. As far as the noise cancelling, I can't compare them to other headphones but I could still hear the cars driving past.

The multifunction button is annoying at best

Owned for 2 years with average use, ear cup material has flaked off and worn out and the headset now no longer charges when plugged in.

The sound quality was good and noise cancelling good but one major flaw with this headset is how much nonsense it yells at you when you first turn it on or use any of the buttons. “Battery medium, phone 1 connected, phone 2 connected, noise cancelling on, etc etc”. Most of these voice alerts could and should instead be beeps or not used at all.

Possibly some of the best sounding phones I have tried out. The noise cancelling is very reasonably and you can link multiple devices to them at one time. I use them at work and can take calls from both my work network and mobile with them and the call quality is great. Bluetooth range is also generous. All in all brilliant value for money

I've has these for 3 years now. I really liked these headphones, I found them comfortable with good sound. Unfortunately they just haven't lasted, they are now flaking and constantly pausing each time I move my head. I think this is a common plantronics product issue as this is now my third product that hasn't lasted 3 years.

Awesome playback sound but the mic for any kind of voice chat is pretty bad since the mics are located on the side of the headphones and its not directional. Using my old $30 set for voice chats but using these for everything else.

Everything you want in portable wireless headphones.

Very good product.

I usually find headphones uncomfortable but these are perfect! They're so soft on my head and fit just right. The sound is incredible and the noise cancelling is top notch. I'm hearing all of my music in a brand new way.

Very happy with this. Good sound quality and the battery life is amazing. I use it all the time. The only problem I've found is that I can't use it on some machines in the gym (eg step, ski machines) as it senses some sort of head movement and the audio cuts in and out. Other than that I couldn't be happier with my purchase at a special low price.

Some purchases just feel like the right move, this was one of them. I've had the opportunity to test out all the latest and greatest from Bose, Sony and Sennheiser and I have to say this has them beat. With the peace of mind knowing I spent half the money to receive in essence the same product this purchase was easy.

The Backbeat Pro 2 is my first pair of wireless ANC headphones, so here is my honest review of the headphones:

• The carry pouch is really nice, made from pretty material. Inside you will find a charger cable and 5mm headphone cable to plug into the headset, which will let you use it even when the battery is flat. The headphones do not come with its own adapter, only the charging cable, and the 5mm headphone cable feels very small and flimsy, so caution would be advised.
• The headphones themselves are very sturdily built. Definitely not the most attractive headsets to look at, but they aren't bad. The pad lining is very soft and comfortable along with the padding on the top of the headphones. I work long night shifts and so far haven't had any real comfort issues with these headphones. Of note, the ear cups are not very large, and for a larger person such as myself, the fit can be a little bit tight. If you want wriggle room for your ears, this may not be the right headset for you. Using my S9+ I have had no issues with any of the buttons on the side, they all work flawlessly and are very convenient. Never had any signal issues, even at extended distances. Battery life has been incredibly as well, used it in Bluetooth mode only for 2 working days and its only down 15%.
• The ANC on the Backbeat Pro 2 isn't the most amazing you can get, but it does do a good job at reducing excess noise, especially at the higher frequencies. Its been a great boon for someone who drives and commutes a lot. Do not expect it to totally isolate you from the outside world, but it will reduce noise disturbing your listening experience. The open mic/listening mode is extremely helpful, flick a switch, and the ANC shuts off the mics on the headset actually help amplify the sound in your headset so you dont need to take it off to hear anything. Click of a button, you're back to your ANC listening experience, awesome for catching announcements on flights etc. The Backbeat Pro 2 also has a sensor that automatically pauses the music when you take the headset off. I have personally not have had any issues with this, it works as it should but it may not be ideal for people wanting to use this in a gym environment.
• Now, for the most important part: sound. As other reviews already make clear, the sound of the Backbeat Pro 2 is noticeably bottom heavy. You will find kicks and bass much more accentuated than the mids and treble. The headset can handle almost any amount of bass you throw at it without any noticeable distortion, if you are into that kind of thing. Personally I found the strength of the kicks and certain bass sounds became a bit painful to listen to for long periods of time. However it is fairly easy to fix using your phone's equalizer and I now have no issues with it. Its important to note that when using the headset in Bluetooth mode, you sound quality will decrease and the strength of the bass and kick seems to increase a bit too. This was not an issue for me, but it may be for some people. For the optimum listening experiencing, using the cable will provide the highest quality, but the quality in Bluetooth mode is extremely good to.

Verdict: For its price range this headset knocks it out of the park. It has its own share of kinks but most can be worked around. The sound of the Backbeat Pro 2 is warm and bottom heavy and can handle any amount of bass you throw at it. The sturdy design and great little features make this a worthwhile buy for anyone looking for good bluetooth headphones that will sound great and last a long time!

Absolutely recommend. Sound great, battery life is awesome, useful features. Noise cancelling on a long haul works a treat.

If you use it as a casual head set, it is the best option. I wear it everyday, it suits me well. But if you require serious Noise Cancelling, you may go for Bose Comfort 35.

Forget about paying $500 for Sony headphones, these are great, quality look and feel – Great sound.

Good fit, sturdy construction, comfortable on the head. I've run through a number of high end headphones in the last few years, and this one is certainly on the upper tier of the spectrum.

Best headphones I've ever had. Silencing works great on the bus and in air con. It has sensors to tell if you've taken them off, so that saves batter if you just put them down. The sensors in the headband can be a bit annoying. I've had it cut in and out, on and off, because it thinks I've taken the headphone off. But I hadn't. Those sensors can be disabled. The mix pass through is useful as you're getting on the bus and need to hear the snapper terminal.

Love these! Really good bass and treble definitions to match. Noise cancelling is amazing, hardly affects the sound quality at all with noise cancelling turned on. Battery life is excellent, I use all day every day and only charge every few days (if that). The nice gesture features are cool too, lift off ears, music pauses etc.

Decent headphones my only complaint is smart sensors don’t seem to work very well best to turn them off.

These headphones are fine they give out good audio quality and do what you expect from them. They are on the heavy side and get tiresome to wear after a while. The sensors to detect your head a fine but about 1/3 of the time there is a clicking sound that happens for about 3 seconds when pairing and when music is unpaused for a while, I don't know if this is just my pair or not. The voice that tells you when the headphones are paired, changed into different modes and tells you you're at max volume gets pretty annoying and I wish it could be changed out for a quick beep like other popular devices.

Yes, the Bose Quiet Comfort headphones have slightly better active noise-cancelling capability, but then the Plantronics Backbeat Pro is almost HALF the price of the Bose. I've had the Plantronics Backbeat Pro for awhile now and my FAVOURITE superb, killer feature that not even the Bose Quiet Comfort has – sensors that detect when you've removed the headphones from your head which automatically pauses / unpauses the music. This is the ONE feature that I totally dig. No buttons to press. I pull off my Backbeat Pro and the music pauses. I put it back on, it continues where I left it. Amazing feature that I'm surprised the $500+ Bose Quiet Comfort 35's haven't implemented. The noise cancelling of the Backbeat Pro works perfectly fine for me. All in all, a superb package at a superb price from Mighty Ape.

While I don't have a great deal of experience with noise cancelling or premium headphones, I'm well pleased with these! Sound is great! The noise reduction is surprisingly good. I actually didn't realize how much ambient noise there was in my office until it was dampened! Most importantly these don't make my ear drums feel “wierd” when the noise cancellation is active. Quality look and feel as well! I just wish the model I purchase came with a hard protective case.

The product is well build and pack of features

They are super comfortable (i could wear them for hours on end), easy to navigate. They are also light as hell and most importantly offer great noise cancellation while also providing surprisingly great audio quality at the same time. The best feature is the battery life, 27 hours of flying and they still had enough juice to the last till the next day. Would highly recommend

I won't review the product here except to say for the 5 hours I've been using it, its an excellent piece of kit. What I would like to confirm is that the MightyApe kept its promise of quick and easy delivery to Melbourne – ordered on the 15th and arrived in 3 business days!

They had great audio quality and are very good at blocking out the outside world even without active noise cancelling. The carry bag they come with is very premium, being relatively thick and have a nice inner lining. Great product.
