The study was motivated by the desire to better understand the managers who are the end-users of computer-based information systems and the issues involved in fulfilling their information needs. We wanted to know what user managers considered the strengths and weaknesses of the information systems (i/s) departments in their companies. We wanted to find out what types of systems user managers had currently, which of their tasks were suitable for computer support, what types of systems they were currently demanding, and what they would be requiring in the future.
