"Get it!"
5 stars"

Dragon Rising = Get it!!!!!!!!!!!

If you have not played the first one, you have idea what you have missed out on! Operation Flashpoint was/is the most realistic war FPS at it's time of release, anything from running, to being wounded – there is no health bar. If you got shot in the leg, you limped around 'till you found a medic.

The enemy AI was excellent – none of this ‘lets just go striaght in and kill em’.

Missions ranged from the ‘normal’ patrol to escaping through a forrest by yourself, with troops, tanks, helicopters chasing you.

If Codemasters have used their brains, they will follow through the same sort of gameplay. (take note that the above is about Operation Flashpoint 1)

Hopefully Operation Flashpoint 2 will live up to the standard of the first one!

"OFPDR"

Purchased on Mighty Ape

It only took 8 years to develop the sequel by Codemaster's after a falling out with the makers of Arma 2. This could be the release that the New Zealand Battlefield simulation community is after. The graphics are superb and evidently work great on a Nvidia 7900 VGA Card. What the gaming community will be looking out for is wether the game supports Mods and the creators release the tools to make Mods. I would like to eventually see NZ army Troops in DPM pattern. NZarma clan will be deploying a OFPDR server by 16th October.

"A thinking mans shooter"

Got this on steam a week ago and its everything i'd hoped it'd be. The original was great but had lots of bugs and crap graphics.

This has improved on the original in every way. Definately for the PC as i can't imagine how'd you'd get the same detail on consoles. Especially with the precision targeting as the enemy has a tendency to back up behind cover and crouch when fired upon. Only gripe is the slow deliberate movements of the squadmates. All in all its excellent. Its beautiful, challenging and fun. Highly rec on PC.

"The ultimate combat strategy simulation."
2 stars"

I have been waiting for this since 1998. The original Operation: Flashpoint and its expansions were among my favorite games of all time. Personal favorite feature was that it was one of the first games with pilotable vehicles to include the commander/driver/gunner/passenger system. There is no way in real life can a single person drive a tank, aim its gun, fire the gun then reload the gun all by him self. Well in OP:F to fully operate a tank you had to have a gunner, a driver and a commander. So pick a vehicle, be it land air or sea, then pick a seat and get ready to roll. It really was the most realistic battle themed game at the time. Combat promotions, realistic hitboxes, crippled limbs, friendly fire, voice commands, squad formation, coordinated assaults… etc. These are but a few of the examples of what made the game so great, because there are way too many to list. With game companies dumbing down so many of the wonderfully complicated strategic game series that I once absolutely adored, such as Ubisoft removing the planning components of Rainbow 6 series. I sincerely hope Operation Flashpoint 2 will bring back and even enhance those aspects that made me absolutely fell in love with its predecessor.

"Not a Title to be K.I.A"

What has certainly been an anticipated game, from my hands on experience playing it in the States; I can safely say that buyers will not be disappointed.

A rock solid story line, with rock solid realistic missions and objectives, right down to the nitty gritty radio chatter between your squad and Zero Alpha, the game will have you on your nerves, as you try to out-flank and outsmart your opponent.

Runs smoothly for such an open map game, although the visuals aren't necessarily of the same calibre as COD4, it still reflects the effort of the development team to make a realistic good looking tactical FPS.

“Prepare for some steel rain boys and girls!”
