Description

This study investigated user requirements for an on-line system to distribute United States Air Force publications. Requirements were gathered utilizing focus groups of users from the students and staff of the Air Force Institute of Technology. The focus groups identified requirements for the system intended to foster its acceptance within the user community. The conceptual framework posited user involvement in the design and implementation of the new system, providing a balance between functionality and ease of use fostering user acceptance. The framework was used to examine the relationships between the users involvement in the system design and implementation and its acceptance and use. The conceptual framework and focus groups were used for gathering data about system requirements. The inputs from the focus groups were used to develop the suggested requirements for the system. The resulting system requirements fell into the following groups: system reliability, system accessibility, search capabilities, desktop options, and hyperlink capabilities.
