Nintendo Switch Super Mario Odyssey Edition Console reviews

I had been looking at getting a Switch since the launch but like many, I was waiting to see what games were released in the first year of the consoles life. When I saw trailers for Odyssey I figured now was the time to take the leap. Boy was the wait worth it! Having played the first few worlds this game it is right up there with Mario 64 and Sunshine in its inventiveness. The 8bit sections are a particular highlight for gamers who, like me, were there for the original's. Great bit of nostalgia. Only criticism would be the number of moves that are available are almost too many and leads to confusion at times.

I bought this pack as combined it was 50 bucks cheaper than the game and console separately. If there hadn't been such a saving I would have got the game on download so that I didn't have to carry cartridges around and swap them out to play games. A completely downloaded games catalogue is very compelling, if a bit more expensive with the extra cost of a large capacity SD card.

I would thoroughly recommend this package to anyone who has enjoyed Mario adventures of the past and has been considering a Switch console.

I can’t get over how many hours I’ve put into this game in just 3 weeks. I can’t put it down whether in handheld or playing in the TV. I even had a moment where I shed a tear from the pure joy I got from the surprises this game gives in the way it honours past Mario games and the Nostagia factor that comes with it. It’s truly a masterpiece and best of all it’s just so fun.

Got this simply for Supermario. And it was a great decision. No one does fun action games like Nintendo. I like how they do their own thing and don’t try to compete with Xbox and PS on hyper real games. If I want real life I’ll walk out the door. Nintendo is all about fun, bright colours, and joy. My 9 year old nephew had a blast too. Only criticism would be the same as Jamie’s below – almost too many moves. Can be a struggle to remember them all. Great range of difficulties too. You can play just for fun without too much effort but for 100% completeness you will need to be a master! The handheld screen is the perfect size and I mostly play it in handheld mode.

Best console I've ever owned and it comes in a nice, classy, but vibrant colour. And with a great game too. This perches made me very happy.
