The Swiss tour is a mere reprint of a translation that has already appeared in the second volume of Goethe's Autobiography, for which, there fore, I cannot hold myself in any way responsible. The Campaign and Siege of Mainz, however, I have very care fully revised from a translation by Mr. Farie, published some years since, but which could scarcely be allowed to stand as it was.
