Excerpt from Memorial of Affection and Veneration for Rev. Jonathan Ward: Who Died at Brentwood, N. H., February 24, 1860, Aged 90 Years and 6 Months, a Sermon Preached at His Funeral, Feb. 27, 1860 The funeral of Father Ward took place on Monday afternoon, February 27 th. Prayer was offered with the family friends at the house of Mr. Frederic Robinson, by Rev. J acoh Cummings, of Exeter. The corpse was then conveyed to the Congregational meeting-house, where a large concourse of people was assembled. Of ministers who were present the following took part in the pub lic services: Rev. Wm. H. J ones, of the Baptist Church in Brentwood, invoked the Divine blessing and read select Scriptures; Rev. Hugh mcleod, of the Congregational Church, also read Scriptures and offered prayer. After the Sermon, Rev. Alvan Tobey, of the Congregational Church in Durham prayed. Appropriate hymns were sung by the choir. The farewell-look - with many tears - was then taken of the venerable father as he lay in the 00611, and his remains home to the grave! Blessed are the dead who die in th Lord from henceforth.
