Personally, I think the Melissa & Doug Magnets are overpriced for what you get, but I bought them anyway (already knowing what the product was like before I ordered it). However, I still think they're a great learning tool for little ones and even though they won't keep their interest as long as other items, they're a good addition. But if you're trying to decide between buying magnets or puzzles, I'd definitely suggest the puzzles over the magnets. I think the Melissa & Doug puzzles are fantastic developmental tools for toddlers.

Love them! Great images. Full magnetic backing keeps them secured on the fridge but they’re still easy enough to pull off. My girl is only 6 months but we are able to point to the animals and say their names, she seems to love looking at them/feeling them… They’ll be great when she’s older.
If you have a magnetic board, then the sky's the limit to what you can do with the pieces would only buy on sale though because otherwise, it would be too expensive.
This is a great little set for encouraging conversation about animals: Are they farm animals- Are they wild animals- Have you ever seen this animal- Is this a big animal or a small animal- You can group the animals into sets, or just play with them. We have these on the fridge sometimes, and we use a whiteboard marker to divide the fridge into sections so that we can sort the animals out.
