There are a couple of key features about makai kingdom that make it a great game!
One of the most noted is the full character customisation system! each class of character has a certain set of weapons (out of the hundreds available) that they are experts ate using. E.G. Apprentices are experted at Swords, Axes, etc… Where as magicians are experted at using Books and Daggers! All characters can use all weapons, but will only develop with weapons they are experts at using. But, using the reincarnation system you could make a magician and have him learn all of the “Passive” elemental spells, then reincarnate him as an apprentice, using axes with high Attack but also able to use elemental magic! this coupled with the point distribution system (which allows you to choose which stats of each character are going to be the highest) allows for hundreds of possible character outcomes.
The characters are also given a certain sense of “self rightousness” that makes the cut scenes and dialogue rather quirky… i.e. Overlord Zetta constantly claiming that he is “one bad-ass freakin overlord”, even though he is just a book with a face on the front.
Over all, an excellent game to play and laugh at, I recommend buying it if you liked FF Tactics Advanced and want something similar but more advanced!
