Description

Low-carbohydrate, high-fat eating is gaining popularity, yet little is written about how to implement this approach in the healthcare setting. Low Carb in Practice fills this void by outlining in plain language the rationale for, and nuances of this lifestyle. Low Carb in Practice is both a valuable reference for the health professional, and a guide for people wanting a deeper understanding of why embracing fat, eliminating sugar and reducing starch can help them achieve better health.

Author Biography

Simon Thornley is a public health doctor and epidemiologist, who lives in Auckland with his wife and two children. Despite his training as a medical doctor and early days as a sugar addict with a severe butter phobia, he is now focused on improving the lives of individuals and populations by using food as a medicine. He has recently been awarded a PhD in cardiovascular disease epidemiology, in spite of coming to troubling conclusions that the effect of preventive drug treatments for cardiovascular disease are overblown. He now works in the health sector in Auckland, New Zealand.
