"Great depth of gameplay"
5 stars"

A great game. Much better than Mass Effect in my opinion. It takes a long time to finish and the art & music direction is just superb, the dream sequences being parts of the game to definitely look forward to. Top this off with great visuals (especially for an RPG, it runs on the Unreal 3 engine), deep and engrossing combat and gameplay which keeps you coming back for more, and you have a winner. A must buy for RPG fans.

"An RPG not to be missed!"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Lost Odyssey is an enjoyable role playing game.

The original minds behind Final Fantasy have come together under the Mistwalker label and created a game that, in my opinion, rivals it's Square-Enix counterparts.

The characters are well drawn out, and there are moments that will have you entertained, laugh out loud and also parts which will pull on your heart strings. It's a fine story played out well.

The music is done by legendary, Nobua Uematsu or Final Fantasy fame. The melodies are well placed and suite the mood of each setting. Also, if you're running a surround sound system, the 5.1 channel audio is immersive. i.e. You can hear crisp droplets around you while you walk around in a dank cave or sewer system.

The battle system is still very standard Japanese role playing fare. You open the menu, choose the attack, spell or item then let rip! There is a ring system for attacks as well, where you hold down the right trigger and release when both circles overlap, to create an additional effect on your enemy. It's a nice touch and keeps the gameplay fresh.

Overall, it was a wonderful story that entertained me over the expanse of all 4 discs and is now one of my favourite RPGs.

If you enjoy role playing games, this one should not be missed.

"Brilliant Story Telling and mind blowing graphics!"
5 stars"

as omst reviews have stated this is a great game. I especialy like the fact that there are no summons/GF's/Eidolons or Aeons in this game as they have kinda gotten repetative and JPRG's needed a new pace. becides this game doesnt need them.

This game should keep any Final Fantasy (pre XII fan)Happy as the creators of the first 12 games (including X-2) are behind this (not square enix but the people). They did absolutley fantastic work on this game and i hope to see a sequel that lives up to this.

"Just Like Final Fantasy on High Def"
4 stars"

Yes this game could be considered as a clone of Final Fantasy, the way you move your character, combat system, and music you may think that this is a new release of FF. One thing you will notice about this game is the amount of cut scenes, there are tons of them (this game is 4 DVD in total) and they are pretty good CG too. (You may ask yourself if this is a game with lots of CG or it's a CG movie with games in it)

Considering that there is no FF on 360 or PS3, and the FFXIII will not be here till X'mas, if you like JRPG and FF and own a high def TV, and then give this game a try. It will keeps you entertain while waiting for FFXIII.

"Fantastic"
5 stars"

Best RPG ive played in a long time. Mass effect was good, but this game took over well and truely. I just finished the game and i clocked up 46 hours and that was pretty much skimming over the surface. Im set up to play through again thanks to a little bonus after you finish the game which is great for replayability. You could swear it was another of the Final Fantasy series.

"One of the Best On the 360"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

I love this game. Even if you didn't know it was made by the makers of the final fantasy series, you would strongly suspect it.

The only con is that the gameplay is a bit confusing and will take you a while to learn the ropes. But once you have the basics down, you're away laughing.

Great story, Cinematics and characters will move you make you laugh and grip you in the intense action. A huge world to explore and you can play up to 100 hours in a playthrough! Best of all you will enjoy every minute.

I highly recommend this game to any final fantasy fans, or even anyone with a 360.

"The BEST RPG of this generation!"
5 stars"

This is definitely the most memorable rpg I have ever played. It is the real turn-based system that is famous. This game is much better than FF13 if you like the original type of RPG's. If you found that FF13 was lacking in the story than you should definitely try this game.

"Fantastic"

I have to say I loved the game! If you are a fan of the “final Fantasy” games on the playstaion platforms then you will defintely like this game… It's gameplay and layout is similar to what you would expect thus make learning the combat system etc easy. Visuals are super! If some of the cut scenes get to much you can skip them easy enough…

ps:It can take awhile to get throught the game !

"Great, nothing new though"
4 stars"

This game is a great game of course, but really there is nothing much new to it. The rings are alright I guess, but even without them you could still own the monsters. I really like the storyline to it though, Kaim is such a great character, but Cooke and Mack are annoying buggers. Buy it if you are a FF fan…

This game did amount to the hype, but Lost Oddyssey is a far cry from FFs bastard child FF X-2.

It is essentially the first of many, decent J-RPGs to be released on the Xbox 360.

With the confirmation of FF 13 for a same day release for PS3 and Xbox 360.

The 2nd to last good reason get a ps3 might aswell of been a doosra.

"A bad clone of FF"
3 stars"

Essentially this was Xbox's answer to Final Fantasy but in my opinion it doesn't add up to the same quality of a FF game. It's like the bastard child that FF's creators threw in the back room incase they ran out of ideas but considering that Xbox has nothing else in the same region as FF this is better than nothing to fill in 40hrs till FF13 comes out next year.

The main characters seem to suffer from the cliche amnesia. There's the common quiet but amazingly strong lead character, annoying side-kick guy, gutsy butch chick, busty queen, 2 freaking useless kids, and the whiny prince… and lets not forget the charismatic evil guy bent on taking over the world. Many of the enemies you fight seem very similar to FF monsters (even some of the same names!). The “dream” sequences are possibly the most boring thing you'll experience since text based games were abolished. They were too lazy to actually animate or even narrate anything for these sequences so you have to read through like +10mins worth of text!!

Do not compare it to games like Mass Effects, they are completely different!!

Maybe worth buying if you've already finished all your FF's… otherwise wait for FF13
