Description

Excerpt from Logic, Vol. 1 of 2: Or the Morphology of Knowledge Every student will understand that my obligation to former writers is frequently as great when I diverge from them as when I assent to their opinion. As I have often been led to express disagreement with Lotze, portions of whose views certainly appear to me strange in so eminent a philosopher, I ought to say that but for his great work on Logic the larger part of what I have written would never have come into my head. I may also express my strong conviction that the reform of Logic in this country dates from the work of Stuart Mill, whose genius placed him, in spite of all philosophical short-comings, on the right side as against the degenerate representatives of Aristotle. A glance at the Index will suffice to show how constantly I have referred to his treatise. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
