Description

legend says he placed an evil curse on his riches to keep them forever safe from looters. Famed treasure hunter Oklahoma ("Just call me O.K!") Smith arrives in town and decides the local legends could very well be true - Kidd may have hidden several chests of pirate booty on the island in 1699 after visiting the coastal town of Milford, Connecticut, while running from the law. Modern technology, Smith says, will easily locate the buried booty, and the town is thrown into a frenzy of pirate fever. But six beach kids who have come to love the island for much more than its hidden riches decide to defend Captain Kidd's booty from the intruder. Matt, Bo, Little Mac, Amanda, Glen and Jake plot to keep Smith away from Charles Island and its buried treasure. Can Kidd's Kids outwit the grownups and their fancy radar equipment? With a little help from a long-dead pirate, they just might rescue their treasure island from the greedy invaders.

Author Biography:

Kathleen M. Schurman, a journalist, playwright and book author, lives at Locket's Meadow Farm in Connecticut with her husband David and well over 100 rescued farm animals. Before moving to the country she spent most of her life on Milford beaches, often gazing at Charles Island and dreaming of buried treasure. Catherine W. Hamill is a professional artist who, when this book was first published, still lived and created in a beach house in Milford, CT. She is a gifted teacher who draws out the inner painter in her many students. Catherine's paintings are exhibited around the world, and she is best known for capturing the spirit of a scene or a moment. She has also illustrated Kathleen M. Schurman's book, The Long Road Home.
