Description

Today, there is a growing interest in reaching the Jewish people with the Gospel of our Messiah. It is basically a measure of outreach that God has initiated both in the heart of the Gentile Christian body and an open heart in the Jewish people. Responsively, our churches must learn to articulate principles of New Covenant faith in a Jewish-friendly manner. Modalities for Jewish evangelism must present Christianity in a Jewish context, or at a minimum an understanding of Jewish history, and the historical persecutions that came in the name of Christianity. In building an evangelistic model emphasis must be placed upon the notion of God's sovereignty as our common launching point for action. But we must also employ education and training. For this cause, Metro Jewish Resources exists. I greatly favor the following quote, "If you want to build a ship, don't drum up the men to gather wood, but rather divide the work and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery Similarly, it is our hearts desire for individuals and churches to discover the vast and endless sea of Jewish evangelism--to receive the heart for the Jew, and yearn to be part of what God is doing today. But regardless of all our efforts, nothing can substitute our spirit-empowered life and witness, which can provoke the Jew to envy according to Romans 11:11, "Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all! Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious." In this first Jewish Evangelism Manual, each section presents a piece of a puzzle that comprises the whole of Jewish ministry. They entail Culture, History, and Jewish Theology, including a collection of the most asked questions regarding Jewish belief and evangelism. We seek to put them together to form one picture and explore such topics as, Jewish calling, election, and purpose. This manual provides concise and comprehensive teaching that will equip any congregation or individual to begin sharing the truth of Messiah with Jewish people. One will discover important truths regarding God's heart for Israel, and the fact that Israel will never be destroyed due to its God-given prophetic purpose. Located throughout this manual are study questions and memory blocks containing key Messianic prophecies that are important to commit to memory for the serious individual seeking to reach out to the Jewish people.
