This book -“The Instant Passport to Communication” was not what I was looking for. I am going to Thailand for about 10 days. I found the book was more suited to people who were staying for a longer time frame. For example chapter 4 ‘Shopping and negotiating’ the first phrase they teach you is ‘What do you want to buy-’ surely this is more suited for selling, and for one timers not necessary as most just browse. The next phrase is answers in the form of ‘I want to buy pants’ with ‘pants’ being able to substituted with; blouse, t-shirt, skirt, tie, silk cloth, cotton cloth or pyjamas (as the only options given). Now for a one-timer I am fine with miming what clothes I want or pointing at what I want and miming for more.
This book is pretty useless for my purposes and I am actually buying another Thai language book because I am so unhappy with it.
