Description

In the current art world, the overtaxed consumer may yearn for a temporary lull to all the cultural hype, for a 'deceleration'. This exhibition catalogue from Kunstmuseum St. Gallen highlights how many contemporary artists, such as Matthew McCaslin, David Claerbout, Anri Sala and Yael Bartana, have started devising more enduring strategies and content, and study the slowness of images as the decisive element. The focus is not only on 'slow motion', but on the notion that the image can first be explained through a different form of perception that is temporal at heart. This title was published to accompany the exhibition at Kunstmuseum St. Gallen, May-August 2007.
