Description

What does a warming world mean for New Zealand - and for you personally- Will we fry and starve, or bask and thrive- How will it affect our standard of living, our overseas trade, our local industry, the future of our children--and our much loved days at the beach- Science writer Gareth Renowden puts climate change into a New Zealand context, using the latest information just received from the 2007 International Panel On Climate Change's Fourth Assessment Report. In plain language he tells us what we all need to know, including: what changes we can expect and when, what the government can do about it (and not), how individuals and businesses can respond to the challenge and what the potential benefits and disadvantages will be. Renowden lays out the scientific basis for action, and looks at New Zealand's options for mitigation in a scrupulously non-partisan manner. Hot Topic is essential reading for anyone with an interest in New Zealand's future.
