Verdam William Bayard Van Rensselaer, and escorted in carriages to the City Hall, where the Mayor presented a parchment extending the freedom of the city to them, and meted them with an address of welcome. The day was perfect, the first in many, and the route by which they passed was decorated with flags, many of them being that of the Netherlands.
