Applying to the evidence detailed in these Blue Books the knowledge of the laws and history of England to be derived from the works of the great constitutional historians, the student will have little difficulty in sepa ratin g the wheat from the chaff; and it is my fervent hope that, before long, the history of London, in spite of all that has been written about it, will be as easily understood as the history of any other town.
