Harry Potter and the Cursed Child reviews

Just finished this. I expected it to be less enjoyable than the books, as it is a script so a lot of the excitment is missing – but I was still looking forward to reading it. But it is not just because it is a script, the plot is weak and disappointing. The characters do and say things that just are not convincing or true to the original stories. No spoliers, but there is one part especially that just doesn't ring true to the original books, and just can't convincingly happen – almost like a cheap soap opera. Sad to say this but just wish I had left Harry at the end of book 7 and not read this story at all.

This book has received quite a lot of negative reviews but I actually loved it. This book is the script for the play and I'm so happy J.K. Rowling allowed it to be printed into a book so those who can't see the play can still get to experience the magic of the Harry Potter world again. It was an easy read and I really enjoyed it, it made me laugh and smile. Just like all my other Harry books I will read it again, but now I have to pass this copy on to my 12 year old who has been eagerly waiting for me to finish.

I knew that this was going to be the play script, not a book, and it might have been okay in play form, but the plot is SO WEAK and even the opening scene is different to the end of Deathly Hallows! It's honestly written like a bad fanfiction and I'm so disappointed that I read this and let it taint my memories of the Harry Potter books. It's complete and utter rubbish, and took less than two hours to read. Not worth $3.50, let alone $35.

As an avid lover of all things potter I found this script to be highly disappointing and the plot to be completely rubbish. It brought in and referenced parts of the harry potter books that were left to lie a long time ago. I can appreciate the production is probably amazing, but this felt like fan fiction plot. I can see the newer generation of children that have discovered Harry Potter enjoying it, as they have not had the chance to form ideas over what the future would be like for the trio.

Really enjoyed this new potter adventure. Was great being able to see how different the next generation of characters deal with the wizarding world. Definitely a must read for the harry potter fan.

This book was utter trash. As someone who loves the HP series and re-reads the entire series once a year, this play was so, so, so damaging. It has a very weak and bad plot that makes no sense and goes off cannon various time. All the characters (especially the female characters) are 2 dimensional with nothing to tie them back to the originals. The female characters are all Mary sues, literally nothing about them is portrayed as a bad thin (Hermione's cha­racter was assassinated terribly, as well as Ron.) It read like a terrible fan fic, like actually a well-written my immortal, that's how much sense it made and how much it fit into cannon and how well the characters were written This was such a disappointment and what makes it worse is that it is now considered cannon. Please if you must get this, get it in E-Book or second hand, do't waste all that money on this awful story.

The story was told in a straight forward manner. Its easy to follow. Sure there were no exposition on the setting etc. But it is told quite good. Its a script. Dont put the standard of the past 7 books on it.

If you are a huge fan if Harry Potter then I highly recommend this book for you as you will re-read this book over and over again.
