Description

This handbook contains two related subjects. The first one is the selection of effective corrosion inhibitors in specific industrial water to prevent corrosion of metallic equipments; the second one is the efficient treatment and recycling of the industrial water to remove inhibitors and other possible toxic contaminants before drainage. It consists of 10 sections to discuss the theoretical background and technical aspects of the corrosion inhibitors used in the industrial water system at the supply, boiling and drainage stages, and describe the proper treatment in the recycle of the waste water. This reference book offers a comprehensive understanding of the theoretical and technological aspects of the corrosion inhibitors applied to industrial water systems. It is intended for researchers, engineers and students working in the fields of material science (i.e., corrosion and corrosion prevention by inhibitors) and water chemistry (i.e. treatment and recycling of industrial water).

Author Biography

Jing-Chie Lin is a Distinguished Professor of National Central University (NCU) at Institute of Materials Science and engineering (IMSE). He was born in Yunlin County, Taiwan in 1951. He received his Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Engineering from National Tsing-Hua University, Taiwan in 1987. Dr. Lin was appointed as a director to lead a team working on the technical development and service to the domestic recycling industry. His excellent contribution rewarded him to be promoted as a distinguished senior scientist. In 1990, Dr. Lin moved to Department of Mechanical Engineering (DME) at National Central University (NCU) as an Associate Professor and was promoted to Full Professor in 1997. He served as the Director of the Center of Precision Instruments at Engineering College in 1997-2001 and the Chairman of the Precious Instrumentation Center of NCU in 2002-2005. He joined the faculty at IMSE, NCU in 2008 and was appointed as Chairman of this institute in 2010-2012. He was a visiting scholar at UCLA, USA in 2005 and a visiting professor at UTT, France in 2009. Prof. Lin received four Awards of Outstanding Research in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 and was awarded as Distinguished Professor of NCU in 2010. He received Award of Outstanding Research on Anti-corrosion in 2006 and Award of Outstanding Contribution to Anti-corrosion in 2011 from The Corrosion Engineering Association of the Republic of China (Taiwan). Dr. Lin is an active member of the Directory Board and the Editorial Board of the Journal of the Domestic Corrosion Association. He has also been the member of some international societies such as American Chemistry Society and Electrochemical Society for many years. His current research interests include electrochemical techniques in materials, corrosion, corrosion prevention, renewable energy and green technologies.
