Description

When the former drug den next door went up for auction by the bank, Tate thought it would be a while before she had to worry about neighbors. And then someone bought the dilapidated old house with the intention of flipping it back onto the market...and then the renovations crew showed up...and then everything in her quietly ordered life sort of went to hell in a nice wicker basket. Tate has the misfortune to be living in the house next to Golden City Construction's latest renovation project - she's newly divorced, hasn't got the first clue how to begin living her life on her own, and the two-man crew next door are teaching her young kids all the worst words. Angry complaints turn to tentative interest when she starts to fantasize about the unseen second crew member whose vile vocabulary has become the bane of her existence. And then she catches a glimpse of him, and fantasy takes a sharp left turn directly into reality. Jake is young, handsome, mysterious, dark-haired, surly-natured and foul-tongued, but good with a carpenter's hammer that may or may not be THE Mjolnir of mythological fame. Or is he just a human male with a checkered past on work release doing odd jobs for a local construction crew? His partner is a big burly blonde with a sunny disposition and an overly friendly demeanor who likewise doesn't seem quite mortal. And as the summer progresses and the ramshackle house next door starts to come together into something beautiful, Tate learns a few things about life, love, passion, and the sometimes not so simple task of getting on with your future when the past wants to hold you back. A lusty romance about breaking free of the locks that contain you, from the author of The McClary Chronicles and the Chemical series.
