Halo 3 (Classics) reviews

When I first purchased this game, I was a tiny bit disappointed with the graphics because graphically there wasn't much of an improvement over Halo 2… that is, until I decided to invest in a HDTV once I saw it being demo'd in HD. I personally feel that this game is an amazing “experience” rather than a play once and forget… I've been back for every achievement, and I'm not even an achievement hunter, I simply enjoyed the game so much that I had to find a reason to play it again and again and again!

A fitting end to what (in my mind at least) can only be referred to as the most epic trilogy in gaming history! Of course this game has it's “nay sayers” as all games do, but I can't help but believe that there is some jealousy going on there from other sectors of gaming, and of course simply to say that not everyone is an FPS fan.

This game pushed the boundaries of what we see in modern gaming, and frankly; it has it all: dry humour courtesy of Spartan 117 himself, beautiful vista's (no not windows, even if Bungie are owned by MS), amazing set pieces that link the levels perfectly, and as for the playability? My goodness, I still return to this game time and again, if only to destroy (or very very occasionally get destroyed by) one of my friends on a multi-player map, heck, just because I could; I completed H3 on Legendary, which believe me wasn't what you'd call a walk in the park!

What else can we say about a series of games that has spawned numerous spin offs? To date we have a series of books, a table top warfare game, a spin off game due very soon, and a film rumoured to be in the works (however everyone is keeping very very quiet about this!)

So, over 1 year after its original release in my mind, what we have here is still one of the greatest FPS games in the history of gaming! This my friends is one of the greats that will be remembered by history as such, much the same way people still rave about the Doom games, so to in ten years time will people still speak of the day Halo 3 graced us with its presence, raising the bar for every other developer out there!

If you love FPS, if you know the Master Chief, if you have an Xbox 360 and you don't own this, you simply must add it to your collection, there is nothing else to say; this is THE must have game!

Halo 3 is the must have game on the Xbox 360. The campaign is great fun and now you can play coop with up to 4 players on either Xbox live, local or lan. The multiplayer is the reason to buy Halo 3. The matchmaking is smooth and quick to find games, the custom games lets you play with friends on Xbox live and you can always play local with a few friends, or lots of friends with a lan. All in all Halo 3 is the multiplayer game that will last and will never get old.

Collecting Skulls, whether its online or off, you always have fun. Great for the party with friends, just to go old school. Better than Reach in ways. BUY IT!

Its still the Best version of Halo and a Classic in every sense of the word.

Halo 3 is absolutely the best game ever!!!!!!!!! the weapons are sick as and the graphics are absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!! I love all the levels there is not one single level that i don't like. I bought this game a week ago and have been playing it pretty much every day of the week!!!!!! Halo 2 was a major hit and i absolutely couldn't wait until Halo 3 came out. At the time i didn't even have an Xbox 360 yet but i bought one just because Halo 3 came out!! I was previously going to buy the PS3 but when i saw all of the previews of Halo 3 i thought stuff the PS3 i'm gonna get the 360 for HALO 3.

All of u Halo fans if u don't hav Halo3 yet buy it and if u don't hav an Xbox 360 yet get one!!! beleive me your gonna want to!!!!!!!!!!! ROCK ON HALO 3!!!!!!!!

I have completed the epic story of Halo 3 and this game is amazing! The graphics are excellent, with awesome looking real-time reflections. The levels are more epic and larger and each level seamlessly ties into the next and the story flows evenly. This is the best out of the trilogy, the game plays like a movie! There are a whole bunch of new weapons and special equipment like bubble shields. There are many memorable battles as well, such as the one where you fight a Scarab, which I must add, is awesome to watch when you destroy it as the explosions are so cool looking. The environments in each level never get boring, the battles keep you anticipating for the next one and as the game plays out, you wonder what will happen next. Everything that made the Halo series great is here, with lots more action, awesome explosions, battles and weapons, it is immensely fun and well worth the purchase! Plus you get an excellent Halo beanie, a poster with Arbiter and Master Chief and a bonus Xbox Live Gold trial. Negatives? The campaign is considered short by many, but that isn't a bad thing, it plays out like an enjoyable action movie that you can easily pick up and play again and again. No boring Halo 2 alien levels, or long Library levels. The story is what makes this game enjoyable, and of course, the heroic actions of the awesome Master Chief. If you purchase this game, you won't regret it! Certainly more fun than the depressingly dark shooter Gears of War or the underwater themed city of Bioshock. Halo has an original world and characters that will keep you playing this game for many years to come. Besides, you have to admit that Master Chief is a pretty awesome character. ;)

What was that guy smoking? oh wait a minute… hes australian, explains all. I have 3 xbox 360s and 1 ps3. The ps3 pretty much sits there gathering dust, i use it as a blu-ray player but apart from that i really have no praise for the console itself. The cross media bar is boring and gay, the online service cant compare to xbox live, the games are no better than that on the 360 etc etc. As for reliability, i have never had a problem with any of my 360s where as my ps3 froze up on me 3 times on the first day i used it. As for halo3 itself, how can you sit there and say that the graphics are no better than halo2. Do you watch tv with your eyes closed? Halo3 is clearly better if you actually took time to sit down and have a real look. Yes halo3 may have had problems but dont start talking about something you clearly know nothing about. The campaign may be short but multiplayer is where its at, millions of users cant be wrong. Anyway, i think that halo3 is an excellent game and it was never made to be revolutionary. People will still be playing this game years from now, cant say that about many games. Pull your head in and get a clue

Some people say its good, but rent it before you buy it. Its the same as all the other halo games but if your into them, then by all means go ahead

If you like the others you will like this, very little has changed in terms of gameplay.

Don't expect gears level graphics.

I wish I'd rented it first, there are some great FPS on the horizion Unreal III & COD4 which look a lot more interesting.

At the end of the day Halo3 is Halo1&2 if you've played the others you've played this, unless your fully into halo multiplayer rent it.

I've only ever played the halo series at my friend's house, and i was terribly disappointed. This game is, as Junglist on the TV show Good Game says, “evolutionary, not revolutionary.”

This game hasn't really improved on the last one. A couple of new weapons like the Gravity Hammer i liked, but the only time it has an effect on gameplay is in the multiplayer, which if you're a fan of online you have to pay for. The graphics haven't improved, the trees still look like pipes with brown and green bits stuck on them, and the close-up images are full of jaggies. I'm really glad that this is the last game in the series, that way there can be no more over-hype.

Sorry halo, but I've had much more fun on Call of Duty 4 on PS3, with free online, more reliability and a better exclusive line-up. I really don't think that this game is the only reason to buy an xBox. And sorry xBox fanboys, but i'm going to have to recommend the PS3 to all new gamers. This game truly does fall under the category of “just another first-person-shooter”.

The high point of the Halo franchise and the only reason for buying a 360. Everyone who owns one has to buy this. ODST doesnt compare.

This is an amazing game, as a gamer myself, I have played a lot of games, but this one tops them all. The graphics are good, even if you're not even playing on a HDTV. It is probably one of the best games created for consoles. It finishes the epic triliogy of the Halo saga. The storyline is quite deep and the combat is great! Possibly THE best FPS game avaliable.

This game is legacy in its own right as it is the concluding chapter to a series of the best and most highly rating console games. It has an interesting story line and lots of different weapons to deal out death with. definitely a must own on 360. This game and its prequels set the standards high for all games released afterward.

I like Halo 3 despite it being disappointing! The new weapons are fun, forge is amazing and online with forge is insanity! xD Sure it's not what anyone had expected but it's still fun! The levels are well made, the game not too shabby and forge my favourite of it! If you go in with not too high expectations then I'm sure you'll like it just as much!

well i really liked halo 2 and halo 1 but halo 3 is not what i expected, they brought bak the old assault rifle from halo 1 but it just wassnt the same, the spartans suit is newer, but i dont like it.

There is new weapons which are pretty cool esspecially the gravity hammer, but the game starts of when your battling new enemies (brutes with weird new armour that i dislike) and the grunts are back and their fun but just not the same in weird armour.

i miss the good old days wen you fought elites and grunts.

remember those stupid flying bug things from halo 2? there bak and annoying as ever…

and the ai cant drive!!! they fall of cliff edges! i thought the ai driving in halo 2 wassnt too bad but in halo 3 its horrible

i think you would enjoy this game even if your a loyal ps owner because it really is a great game, i just have a few personal issues with it.

i find the things i found disapointing to be really important, i was quite attached to the elites and they just vanished.

in halo 3 you can drift the warthog pretty easily, a lot of fun!!

I thought wthat whilst the graphics were good, and the game play itself were fine, it was really sdad when I finished the game on heroic in just under 6 hours, I mean why do I buy games? certainly not to admire the “next-gen” graphics, I get a game for a long enjoyable experience, the story also let the game down a little, as right from the start, I didn't follow the story line one little bit.

All I can say is WOW, quite frankly i was always a Playstation fan, however Halo 1 started to make me think, perhaps Xbox is better. I enjoyed halo 1 so much i couldn't wait for the second one. However when the second one finally came, i felt it was lacking, the weapons and enviroment weren't all that exciting and quite frankly the story line SUCKED. My only wish was that the third halo game would not be a complete waste of money, and WOW from what I've seen so far (I have only played it on my friends Xbox) it is amazing, the gameplay rocks the weapons are so much fun and the environment of the game is absolutely stunning, all I have to say is that since Halo 3 came out Playstation is absolutely screwed i mean i am contemplating buying a Xbox 360 JUST so I can play this game! WELL DONE BUNGIE YOU JUST SAVED XBOX'S ASS!

What i find with Halo3, is that 360 fanboys believe it is one of the best games ever and the PS3 fanboys think it is the worst game ever.

I believe both are wrong, it is a good fun game, but there are some things that could be improved.It is worth playing at the least.

A great multiplayer game for hours of endless fun with friends and family on the big screen also can be played online to battle it out internationally, a classic must have game.

Halo: Combat Evolved was the release title for the Xbox. It was also the biggest selling title in that platform. And now to see it evolve into the game it is today is just mind blowing. The Master Chief embarks on his final mission of the trilogy. And boy oh boy have Microsoft made it a good one.

You must play to believe.

This is my first introduction to the Halo Universe and MAN!!!! am I impressed. I was already a Halo fan boy from watching Red vs Blue and Achievement Hunter's Fails Of The Weak, but this was just a delight. From the get go, you're running through the jungle with Marines and you waste no time getting into a few skirmishes and firefights with Grunts, Jackals and Brutes. Whether you enjoy being Rambo and just running straight in, meleeing as many Grunts as you can, or sniping from a distance, this game reins supreme. This game is completely awesome, and there is no two which ways about it!

The story is brilliant and the games graphics looks like it blasted in from outer space. The story was really great and the teaser at the end left me yearning for halo 4.

This is a great game and reccomend this game to all people looking for a good time with mates or playing online

No halo collectors set would be complete without the amazing halo 3 with a great storyline containing endless adventure and excitement, plus an intense multiplayer quenching your thirst for more spartan battles and heroism. If I had to rate it It would be a 15/10.

This amazing game by Bungi is a must have game for all Halo fans. Fight your way through new maps, meet new enemies and witness the fall of Spartan 117 the Master Chief. The all Forge option allows you to upgrade maps, this is also known as world domination.

I really liked the multiplayer in this game, but it was far outdone by reach. the campaign was too easy at times, and overall I think that the first two were better games, and Reach the best.

I will always have a special place in my heart for the Halo series: after all it is responsible for my love affair with gaming. With what seems to be a lack of campaign based games out there I was a little nervous about Halo 3 – I hoped that it would live up to all the hype; and it did. The campaign while a little short can be extended by playing on Legendary and finding all of the skulls. Where this game thrives though is multi player; whether it is spit screen, lan or online you will find something for everyone and it will blow you away. This game is the centerpiece of my ever expanding collection. You need to have this game.

Boasting of the best multi player action and epic engrossing campaign halo 3 improves on the previously unbeatable prequels halo 1 and 2. Without giving to much of the story away master chief is back and kicking alien butt in the search of Cortana who provides the only way the humans win the war. The most played and favoured spectrum of Halo 3 is its online play. With a huge player base and multiple game types, incredible maps and endless mayhem you'll be addicted to this games unending ability for a fun and unique battle everytime!

I think Halo three is a great game that finishes the trilogy well. This is good for not so serious gamers who just want to play casually and have fun.The plot is ok it has twists and turns but not to complicated it makes no sense but not to simple as to make it boring. All in all I give it four out of five stars.

Halo 3 is THE game on the Xbox 360. It practically gave the Xbox it's lead over the PS3. Halo 3 quickly became the fastest selling game in history (Which might be toppled by Halo Reach). It has all the features of an epic game:

1. Entrancing, replayable campaign (Skulls, Campaign over Xbox Live, Achievements).
2. Addictive multiplayer experience (Xbox live caters for everyone, massive online community, easy to find games, local split screen mode).
3. Forge. An map making utility of EPIC proportions (SO MANY OPTIONS, SO EASY TO MAKE).
4. Theatre (Watch previously played games, AND be able to move around and watch it from all angles, AND be able to create movies of your own).
5. Balance – Bungie has really done a good job balancing all the weapons, so nothing is really overpowered.
6. Crisp graphics – Clean and vibrant.
7. Wide range of weapons, interesting weapons – torch your enemies with a flamethrower, crush your enemies with a gravity hammer, lacerate and slice with an energy sword, impale enemies with needlers and brute spikers, stick enemies with plasma gernades (fuzzies!), what more could you want from a game!

This is easily the best halo so far The graphics are awesome, there are lots of new vehicles such as the Hornet, Mongoose, Brute Chopper and the elephant. Also there are heaps of new weapons and grenades to use. Must have for anyone who owns an xbox 360!!!

Halo 3 manages to combine elements from the previous games and make something unique. There is nothing particularly groundbreaking about this game. But the way they used different elements of game play to make something you will keep going back to years later.. despite what people who are absolutely sick of it will say.

This game is an essential to any Xbox collection, the best game for either single player action, or have a mate or few around for some co-operative campaign. If you're feeling really game try out the online multiplayer and get several people to shoot at you at once! No matter your experience level this is a great way to gain some skill at console First Person Shooters.

There is no excuse for you if you do not own Halo 3 on the Xbox 360. One of those games that you can play a lot and then store away as a collectable. Live Multiplayer is the highlight of the game and ODST is a great add on as well.

Halo 3 is one of my favourite games I have been playing it for 3 years. Its action packed and exciting there is so much fun and creative features in halo 3. My favourite feature in halo 3 is forge if you have sandbox then great if you don't then get it because you can build almost anything using forge on sandbox. Another great thing about halo 3 is the cutscenes in the single player campaign they exciting and epic.

OK, Halo 3 may be one of the best games I have ever played. The story was great even if your not a Halo 1/2 fan, but if you are then its even better!

The multiplayer will for sure last for the rest of your Xbox's life! There are various multiplayer (capture the flag, vip, team slayer, griff ball plus many many more). There's also the forge which if you dont know is a brain adventure that lets you create objects and place were ever you want on any of the multiplayer maps. Finally there's the theater mode which lets you watch everything you've recently done in a movie-like way where you control the camera and are able to record and take screenshots and share them with the HUGE Halo community.

Though the one thing I like the most would have to be that the creaters of the Halo 3 game, Bungie, are always adding and interacting with the Halo community. Best game ever worth much more then it is priced as! Bring on halo reach!

This is the awesomest game ever! It does have a lot of hate over being just another shooter that is not really that revolutionary but it does what it does really well. It has a great story, great co-op, awesome multiplayer and cool new features which makes it the best Halo yet. It may not be revolutionary but it it just provides the best multiplayer with a great single player and will give you a game you will not regret.

THIS GAME IS BY FAR THE BEST FPS I HAVE EVER PLAYED!!! The graphics, the character's, the enviroment, the weapons, the explostions you name it Halo 3 has it!! The campaign is fun, and i have finished it 4 times on legendary (2 myself, 2 with my friend)!! Forge, I LOVE FORGE, think of something then you can make it. I make levels like theres no tomorro!!!! And ONLINE soooooooo flippen fun that me and my friends play it when we get the chance!!! (but sometimes i have a break and play another game!!! harderly though!!!) 5/5 EXCELLENT

I have finished the campaign on legendary and i have to say that I am rather sick of it now..

Multiplayer was awesome to start with but slowly got more and more boring, but it is still however one of the best multiplayer games out there to date.

Overall a great and fun game but i found that to much playing will just make you sick of the game.

yea this game sucked i reakon mainly because i was anticipating it slightly too much then suddenly bungie came out a beat the crap outa me with a short uninteresting game. halo 1 i thought was awesome but it annoyed me for sum reason. halo 2 was a big difference in graphics but almost no gameplay difference and then the difference left me thinking ok halo 3 is not guna be that great then suddenly million of gamers start saying its guna be the best game ever so i get excited. last time i follow the croud ill tell u that. and shutup with the storyline already its not that great

As With All Games Now The Poor Thing Was Over Hyped Before Its Release, So When I Played It I Wasn't Overly Impressed. The Graphics Where Good But A little Slow To Load At Times, The Sound Was Excellent In 7.1 (I Actually Ducked A Few Times), The Gameplay Was Same Old (But If It Aint Broke Don't Fix It), The Story Was Pridictable And Short Taking Only 8hrs On Legendary, But That Said It Is Worth Buying For Online Play & Co-Op

Ok as the title suggests, I had a PS2 but got sick of waiting and the value for money factor led me to change to X360… and I'm glad i did so but it wasn't because I wanted Halo 3. I have always struggled to believe the hype that surrounds this game, for many reasons – Is it possible to be THAT good? I had played Halo 2 and thought it was decidedly average, and a personal preference for realistic shooters (in terms of storyline i.e fighting humans, not aliens)

I reluctantly got this game after being talked into it when returning MOH Airbourne (boring!!), but thought I might as well see what the fuss is about. I must admit I am hooked, the graphics are superb, particularly the environments and the sound and gameplay is also excellent. Still I am not convinced about the storyline (remember haven't really play 1 or 2), but I definately cannot put my controller down.

But like the previous review it is an unfortunate trend that these next gen shooters are far too short – GRAW2, Gears of War, Bioshock and now Halo 3 were all over before they began. It seems now if you don't have broadband for multiplayer you are wasting your time. Hopefully Call of Duty 4 will be different.

I am sure I won't be a popular person for saying this game was a little disappointing. Sure the graphics and gameplay are superb but it is far to short and this is becoming a trend with next generation games. Bioshock was the same, all detail and just a lack of game time. It almost seems game makers are starting to make good looking games at the expense of a proper length game.
