You know the food, now know it's story.

After reading this book, it is clear that Ray Kroc, the author, can do two things amazingly well; make money, and tell storys. Not only will this book give you an insite into the creation of McDonalds, but it will tell you interesting lore about various menu items and how they came about, and little details that will make you think “oh yeah that's true, I never though of it like that”.

Ray Kroc died in 1984, so his story about McDonalds stops in the 1970's. Although todays McDonalds is very different from the McDonalds of the 1970's, Ray Kroc had implemented several lasting “ways of doing things” by then. He talks about the creation of the breakfast menu, the addition of the fillet ‘o’ fish burger and lots more, all with a strong sense of humour, modesty and charisma.

One of the best books I've ever read, can't recommend it enough.

Description

Few entrepreneurs can claim to have actually changed the way we live, but Ray Kroc is one of them. His revolutions in food service automation, franchising, shared national training and advertising have earned him a place beside the men who founded not merely businesses but entire new industries. But even more interesting than Ray Kroc the business legend is Ray Kroc the man. Not your typical self-made tycoon, Kroc was 52 when he met the McDonald brothers and opened his first franchise.

Author Biography

Ray Kroc (1902-1984) was a businessman, generally credited with building the McDonald's restaurant chain into one of the successful corporations in the world.
