"Wait for the real thing!"

Ive played it, and enjoyed it, but i would say, wait for GT4 itself to come out, but this is a good game in itself, super good graphics, super good car detail, and super good track and crowd detail. Probably the best looking driving game ive ever seen. But is it worth paying all that money for this game, as another reveiwer said, illd save my pennies and buy GT4 as soon as it came out.

Also, this game features some new circuits, and some new cars by makers such as McLaren :D. Real life tracks like the Fuji Speedway. Also the driving school is really good, which should have you ready to tackle GT4 when it hits the shelves. also the range of cars on just this taster, is big enough to satisfy me, and probably some other gamers out there.

"Handling is even better!"
3 stars"

I applaud Polyphony Digital for including a “time-penalty” when hitting another car or a barrier. We all know that gaming is just for fun, but I believe that software simulations affect our instinctive and reactive responses in real life. Why else do commercial and military pilots train with simulators?

Actually, GT4 Prologue is actually pretty conservative when it comes to simulating – a reality check! Damage capability, points demerits and vehicle confiscation should distinguish a good sim driving game from the arcader. I noticed a big change in attitude in the way my pre-adolescent son “drives” compared to the previous version without the time penalty.

The new and more sophisticated genre of driving games must play a positive role in “conditioning” the next generation of gamers so they aren't so crash prone in real life.

Ever since GT3, no other game comes close to the “feel and handling” of the Polyphony driving software engine, and the GT4 Prologue did not dissappoint. But the price may be a bit steep for this very limited version.

Beautiful graphics and nice new touches like animated crowds. Backgrounds and reflections on car are great. Drives well as expected for new version of GT3 although I don't think McLaren will like the skitterish F1.

BUT – starts with stupid driving school where you win the car you are racing on each lesson. Some absolutely ludicrous levels such as slowly driving around a figure 8 knocking down cones. Also typical GT licence rules which aren't same as race rules.

You can then race arcade with the cars you win at driving school on the huge total of 5 tracks (2 rally) but you don't win anything or progress – all you can do is try to beat your time or win. And pretty easy to win even with opponents set on Pro. Also stupid new penalty which slows you down for 10sec when you hit the wall or another car hard or when a car hits you – hope this doesn't make GT4. Nice to drive but no challenge. As a long time GT series player – GT3 is the greatest driving game – was disappointed overall with Prologue.

An expensive demo disk better suited to a magazine giveaway. Save your pennies unless you want to look at the great graphics. Wait for GT4.
