Has been enthusiastically received and both myself and Miss 8 are enjoying going through it and learning about worldwide, real life superwomen. Beautiful illustration. Stories sometimes a bit light on details but easy enough to find out more with google.

A wonderful introduction to some historical and contemporary female role models. This is a beautifully illustrated book and with a page for each heroine, the book is informative and easy to read.
We've really loved reading this book, sparks a few too many questions for a bedtime read so we've tended to read it during the day. This has made a lovely addition to our bookshelf and will be on our gift list for the coming years.
This is such an inspiring and refreshing read compared with traditional fairy tales. I love reading this to my daughter (and would happily read it to boys too, this is perhaps my only issue is that it says it's “for girls” but I understand why they've done this). They are a nice easy read, with one page per person, in the fairy-tale format but with real women, historic and modern who have excelled, against odds to succeed in their field. I look forward to buying volume 2.
A fantastic book full and amazing kid suitable stories about amazing women in history. My only issue with this book is that it's titled/marketed ‘for rebel girls’. This book is totally suitable for ALL kids, and I feel its message is especially important for all kids to hear, not just girls.
There are some great stories and accounts in here. And then there is some obvious propaganda. Hopefully I can say that the target audience for this book is not those who would call themselves conservative, and still have this review published. I did not purchase this on mighty ape, but read most of it at the library when my daughter intended to borrow it (the stories are fairly short with large well drawn pictures/paintings of the subject).
Was very exctied to give this to my 7 year old daughter as a Christmas present. I want her to be inspired by women in the past and those who have made a difference. Thought one of the stories was inappropriate for a child, talking about a boy who chose to be a girl. It's a boy/girl, not a woman who my girl can look up to (cover says ‘women!’)
I bought this for my 8 year old grand daughter. She is a very proficient reader but the story about a transgendered teen was not deemed to be age appropriate (by her parents). Sadly, this will have to adorn my bookshelves for a few years. It is sad that the inclusion of this story renders an otherwise great book totally unsuitable.
These books are a great look a wide range of people. Great to get a quick outline about their life and achievements, while providing a great positive message. There is still opportunity for you to investigate and find out more, but these give a great synopsis.
Brilliant true stories of brave, courageous and brilliant women from all over the world. I love that this includes stories of young women today as well as historic stories. My 6 year old granddaughter asked when were they born and how long did they live for, she picks the stories based on what they are known for; pirate, rapper, tattooist, warrior, artist. And we both love the illustrations of each of the women.
My niece can't put this book down and takes it everywhere with her for a quick read. So much content with beautiful illustrations throughout.
I bought this book for my 13 year old's birthday. She really likes it, but her 11 year old sister LOVES it and read it carefully, front to back. It's full of true stories of brave and inspiring women who are great role models for girls. The book itself is of good quality in full colour and a lovely hardback cover.
