Description

ROC-1 was first published in 2014, but only covered 50 cliffs found in the 4 departments of Bourgogne (Burgundy). This second edition has been re-designed with a new format that is used in ROC-2 (2018). This keeps to the 320 pages and same physical A5 size, but manages to now include all the departments of the Auvergne, and a whole selection of cliffs in central southern France. Over 350 cliffs were visited, and eventually 250 were selected for inclusion. The book is spilt into 6 major areas: Area 1 - Fontainebleau: 30 areas are presented, so you can get to the parking and find the circuits. It does not cover problems, but is ideal for a first visit to the forest. Area 2 - Yonne-Morvan: These are the classic limestone areas of Saussois, Rochers du Parc and Surgy, along with the granite outcrops in the Morvan National Park, plus the popular Vieux Chateau. Area 3 - Auxois-Beaune-Macon: A very powerful section of the book, Hauteroche, Saffres, Lantenay, Fixin, Arcenant, Bouilland, Cormot, Remigny, Solutre and Vergisson. Area 4 - Clermont Ferrand: The bourbonaise cliffs - St Vincent, volcanic puys, granite near Issoire, Dent de Rancune, Hoziers, bassalt of Cantal, granite gorge du Bez. Area 5 - St-Etienne-Haute Loire: Many smaller cliffs in this area, but with the classics of Doisieux, Corbiere, Pradel, Monistrol, Fay-sur-Lignon, Costaros, Chat Gourmand. Area 6 - Ardeche, Tarn, Montpellier: If its raining, just keep driving south and find the drier, hotter classic cliffs in central southern France, Cirque du Gens, Mazet Plage, Fas Aqui, Oasif, Cantobre, Boffi, Seynes, Russan, Colias, Claret, St-Bauzille. * 10,000+ climbing routes. * Ultra modern graphics and photos of exceptional quality. * Colour coded to suit beginner to expert (green-orange-blue-red-black-purple). * Ideal for the transition from indoor climbing to outdoor climbing, family friendly, etc. * Bi-lingual guidebook - English and French.
