Author Biography:

Kathy Oppegard helps organizations within the environmental movement engage communities with their good work in the world, whether as volunteers, participants, or staff. She is a high-volume activist. Under her patient and enthusiastic management, literal tons of clothing have been collected for Goodwill Industries and tons of computer and electronics have been reused or recycled. She has coordinated hundreds of volunteers for America Recycles Day, and for Pollution Prevention Week for the state of Wisconsin, through the Department of Natural Resources. Volunteers are some of Kathy’s favorite people on this beautiful planet, and she has worked with over a thousand volunteers to help economically disadvantaged people get major repairs made on their home through Project Home. Kathy is an Anglophile and book lover who has an extra scoop of wanderlust in her outdoorsy heart. She is a certified Martha Beck Life Coach, an entrepreneur, and a connoisseur of fair-trade dark chocolate. Her friends describe her as delightful, thoughtful, and committed to positive change, and she is considered a go-to advisor for people who are ready to dream big dreams and create fun, practical advances for people and the planet. She resides in Madison, Wisconsin.
