This is up there with one of the worst books I have ever read. Later on I found out that it was actually Twilight fan fiction, minus vampires. Christian Grey is the perfect man with no personality, is a billionaire, a concert pianist, can make women climax by breathing on them and falls for the plain Jane but has daddy issues. And is into BDSM. Apart from ideas about what next to buy at Peaches and Cream, this book has no other entertainment value. Don't buy into the hype.

Fifty Shades of Grey is THE worst book in existence. Wish I had never read it – feel that I have wasted part of my life. Badly written and disgusting. If I never see the words ‘Oh my’ together in a sentence again, it will be too soon. Don't waste your time like I did. This book doesn't even earn a star rating from me!
Just no Worst book in existence Is no an emotion because that's what I felt throughout reading this book
I dont think this book is worth the hype its getting, I am so over hearing about 50 shades everywhere i go. I find she repeats words over and over which is quite frustrating to read and the storyline is pretty boring. I get how its some peoples thing but its definitely not mine, not exciting enough, brought all 3 books but barely got past the first.
I am an avid reader but this is the worst book I have ever tried to read in over 60 years. No story, just a wordy nothing
This isn't my normal genre, prefering Thrillers and Victorian Period books but I was curious as to all the fuss so I took a chance and I'm glad I did. The two main characters are interesting, Christian may be a tad chliche, gorgeous, billionaire tortured soul but he is very captivating and unpredictable and Ana the main character manages to avoid Bella Swan's failing by actually having a personality and opinions and she is genuinly likeable if a tad irrational and over emotional sometimes. She avoids being dull and her sexual awakening while rushed, sticks somewhat to reality. Other characters in the book are pretty one dimensional but as their appearences in the book is brief it is not to be dwelled upon. Having said that all of the characters do fall into place rather well. The sex (and there is alot of it) does get repetitive towards the end of the book, infact the aspect I found most alluring was not the sex itself but the build up. Though the sex can get a bit tiresome the story holds its own and the never ending drama that unfolds between the 2 main characters is unpredictable and captivating because, it is not just Ana's first time falling in love but Christians too, though he does not say it, his actions do. Overall I found this book highly addictive and I read it within 2 days. It is no great piece of literature but everything has its place, I can't recall having read a book of this genre before but I'm glad I took a chance. I have already read Fifty Shades Darker and will be reading 50 Shades Freed. This may have started of as a Twilight FanFiction (I do not like Twilight at all) but they are worlds apart and I would highly recomend this book to anyone who wants to have a light read with a kinky side.
I love all three of the fifty shades books wow !!
I think I summed it up but this book is pornography, trust me I've seen more than enough to know.
LOVE this series. Can't wait to read it every night.
Started reading this and I couldn't put it down, if your above the age of 18 and like kinky stuff this is a must read!! Loved it enough that I've brought the next two :D
Leaves you wanting more
This book is great although I wouldn't buy it for a teenager. Great for women to read.
Was stuck on ideas of what to get my older sister (she's in her late 20s). She was a bit embarrassed about reading this but when she had finished it, she said she really enjoyed it. Now she wants the rest of the trilogy.
To agree with most of the reviews here, this isn't a great book. Although, I do know of people who have liked it and they seem to be the exact same people who also enjoyed Twilight. Considering this book was intended as Twilight fan-fiction, this isn't a surprise. So if you liked Stephenie Meyer's stuff, by all means.. get this book.
This is a great story to start the trilogy off with, a must read!!
People may give it a hard time, but it is still a seriously good read!
Got this book for my Aunty because she wanted it, and she loves it! But I don't think I'd read it because it's.. Uhh.. Not my genre haha
Very good book. Couldn't put it down I recommend to everyone to read the series! I was hesitant to read this as I had read a lot of reviews about this book but it has been written so well. There is lots of erotica in it but its done in a very sensual way. I am now onto the 3rd book so its not that bad (with the sex). I have loaned this book out and everyone has said the same thing it is definitely worth the read!
Certainly one of the better books I've read recently
Not something I would usually read but I quite enjoyed it
Fantastic book, draws the reader in, well written
This is a great book that you do not want to put down.
I loved Fifty Shades of Grey, it was a wonderfully written love story that both amused me and made me cry. It's a must read, for those who didn't like it, you need to get with the times and stop being such a prude. I have read thousands of books in my time right from soppy mills and boons books to some of the greats, like Wilbur Smith and Emily Bronte, 50 shades is a modern well written love story that caters to women of all ages. Get over the sex scenes and look at the real story. It's what really happens in the real world.
This is just basically porn, while reading I'm just sitting there thinking the woman who wrote this must be demented.
Is it the best book I've read- No. Is it as bad as what some of the other reviews are trying to make it out to be- No.
I actually really enjoyed this book, but I think you need to enter into it with an open mind. If you just “read” it, and don't try to over-analyze it then you will probably enjoy the book as much as I did. Looking forward to reading the other two.
Smoking HOT! Getting all my friends to read this!
So descriptive compared to the movie. Love it
Love the trilogy, both the movies and books
Have only just started it & do not have time to sit all day & read it. So as of now I give it a 2 star ratinfg.
It was a quite good book, but don't think it is worth all the hype it's getting. The storyline was pretty weak but did have some good bits, doubt I will read the second one any time soon though.
