An Introduction to Written Farsi (Modern Persian) for English Speakers. The text makes no assumptions concerning familiarity with Farsi or the Farsi Writing system. It is organized as an introduction to written Farsi in terms of the basics of Farsi grammar and the characters of the Arabic syllabary in which Farsi is usually written, structured with sets of reading, writing, and translation exercises. Completion of the text will give the student a basic knowledge of written Farsi, its syntax and grammar, and a working vocabulary of approximately 3,500 words.
