Author Biography:

Clifford D. Simak (August 3, 1904-April 25, 1988) was born in Millville, Wisconsin. After attending the University of Wisconsin he worked for various Midwestern newspapers. He began writing science fiction in 1931 and was a regular contributor to Astounding Stories. Much of his later fiction draws on his rural Midwestern roots. His best known work is the novel City. He was honored with three Hugo awards, one Nebula award, and was named the third Grand Master by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America in 1977.
