Covering the period c.1530 - c.1760, this book analyzes the aims, facilities and achievements across all levels of education in England, institutional and informal, acknowledging in context the education situation in the rest of the British Isles, western Europe and North America. The work is aimed primarily at undergraduates taking courses on education in England in the early modern period, and also for use on undergraduate courses on the social history of Britain in the early modern period.
