"The best of the Sixth Doctor!"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Of the classic series, I consider the Sixth Doctor to be one of the most polarising of the Doctors. Putting aside the choice of wardrobe, his erratic behaviour, and the gaps in production during his tenure, it is pleasing to see his return (and ultimately his last televised performance as part of the series) in the form of this sweeping 14 part storyline, The Trial of a Time Lord. The Trial of a Time Lord begins with the Doctor being summoned to a space station, where he is put on trial for his actions. Throughout the series, various adventures are displayed as evidence to the prosecution's claims. The different adventures are tightly bound by scenes in the Courtroom, and the series concludes with a fantastic realisation. The Trial of a Time Lord was a joy to watch, with a more consistent production value and tightly woven story. Overall this is one of the most enjoyable classic sets of Doctor Who I have watched, and it's only a pity that it's story arc is so quickly wound up as the events leading to its conclusion were so elegantly explored and realised. Fantastic performances throughout, this is the Sixth Doctor at his best, and a testament to all that could have been. Although this was the last adventure of the Sixth Doctor, it is definitely a memorable one, and a fantastic set to own for fans of Doctor Who! Highly recommended!

"Pretty Marvelous"

Aside from most of the Big Finish stuff and Vengance on Varos (don't forget Timelash!) this fourteen parter, although camp (it is 80's DW after all!) is fun, and never boring, regardless of half enthusiastic extras and low budget, Colin shines in every scene

"Great and fairly typical story"

This series demonstrates the humour involved in all series of Dr Who. It co-stars the best incarnation of the Master prior to the present female incarnation. I recommend it as next best behind “The Key to Time” of the early series.

This is a pretty good deal for an entire box set and the dvds are well worth it. Heres a tip. Try watching it backwards. Its really funny
