Description

APHORISMS are short enigmatic sayings, a type of pre-social media truisms, that convey deep philosophical meaning. In our ego-centered age of selfishness, David Lucas points us to the way for an emotionally richer, fulfilling life. Do The Right Thing invites us to reflect on the meaning of life, but not to dwell there. He encourages us to ponder these timeless truths, then to engage in a positive manner in relationships to others and with our community. DAVID LUCAS is a successful entrepreneur and philanthropist in South Florida who never tires of stepping up when there is a need to fill. Florida Gulf Coast university named the Lucas Center for Faculty Development after him as a force for good. J. E. WILLIAMS, O.M.D. is a clinician who treats patients with chronic diseases and is a professor at Emperor's College in Santa Monica. He is the author of Winter Rain and the Light of the Andes

Author Biography:

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1947, David graduated from Purdue University with a degree in industrial management and earned an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1971. Raised a Catholic, in the mid-1980s he converted to the Presbyterian Church and was very active in his church in Fort Myers, Florida where he has lived since 1985. David is the former chairman of the -56- David Lucas Bonita Bay Group, a real estate corporation where he promoted sustainable development. From a scrappy kid in Pittsburgh where he sold eggs door-to-door, to a multi-millionaire entrepreneur and philanthropist, David's reach extends far beyond his local community where he is noted for his positive impact. "You've got to find a place where you can make a difference - that's what makes your life significant," he explains, invoking one of his favorite sayings: ' There are three kinds of people in this world - those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who wonder what happened?' We want to be in that first category, making good things happen. Dr. Williams is an American acupuncturist, integrative medicine physician, and writer. He has authored six health books and programs, two non-fiction memoirs about Peruvian shamanism, and a work of poetry. He has written numerous articles and academic papers published in -58- David Lucas peer-reviewed journals. He has taught integrative medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and NOVA Southeastern University. His blogs focus on balanced and practical health information based on evidence-based research and his forty years of clinical experience. In the early 1980s, he studied Taiji Chuan and traditional Chinese medicine in China before it was open to the West. His values integrate both Western and Eastern teachings.
