Author Biography:

Sarah-Jane is the mother of two delightful and unusual children. Her childhood was largely free range and spanned schooling in Birmingham and holidays on the family farm in Shropshire. She was the SEN Governor for an infant school and a volunteer in the local branch of the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC). For the last seven years she has worked within the autism sector and as a representative of her organisation has been consulted in connection with reviews of SEN policy and implementation for the UK government. She loves to balance her passion for work with her family and she enjoys a broad range of hobbies including sailing, singing, writing poetry and learning new things. She stands five foot seven inches tall (on tip toes) with brown hair, hazel eyes and shares her first name with Dr. Who companion, Sarah-Jane Smith. Within her extended family she has a fascinating combination of conditions including autism, dyslexia, ADHD (inattentiveness rather than hyperactivity), dyspraxia, schizophrenia and depression which has given her a personal perspective on the challenges that families face.
