Description

This book is a genealogical database and family history of 6,897 members of the Graham Family, consisting of David Graham and his three children who arrived in Charleston South Carolina on the ship Pennsylvania Farmer in 1772, and their descendants. Also explained is the history of the Graham Family Name. This book includes the History of Scot-Irish Immigration, the factors that caused them to move from Scotland to Northern Ireland and then the factors that caused five boatloads of 1,100 settlers, which included the Graham Family, to arrive in the Port of Charleston South Carolina in 1772. Upon arrival, the Grahams and other new arrivals almost immediately joined in the fighting on the American side in the American Revolutionary War. This Graham genealogy is the result of almost fifteen years of research and was begun tentatively by each of the authors before they begun corresponding in 1983. Since then, the genealogical facts have acquired mainly by plodding persistence, though sometimes by luck. Always the acquisition has been accompanied by a feeling of pleasure in learning something new about the Grahams. Many miles have been driven in pursuit of the facts, many letters exchanged, but also many new friends have been made for which the authors are grateful.
