Dark Sector is known as the ‘goth gears of war’. But i beg to differ. Dark Sector is a very individual game, with some great gameplay, a semi-deep storyline and stunning looking world to play in.

Dark Sector takes you on a mission as Hayden Tenno, a black-ops agent sent on an undercover mission in the eastern-European town of Lasria. After being exposed to a brutal infection meant for the Cold War, Hayden must pursue his missions using an arsenal of weapons, a large number of powers and the almighty Glaive.

The star of Dark Sector is of course, The Glaive. A large circular 3 pronged-blade that grows from Hayden's hand whenever he is not equipped with a gun. It can be thrown through fire, electricity and ice to power it into different elements, and then thrown (and controlled0 by the player to execute some beautiful kills on the enemies you face.

Gameplay is nicely done, but can have a couple of glitches here and there. The most annoying problem with game play is the cover system. You simply use the ‘A’ button to lean against a wall, and pop out to fight your enemies, but this is very buggy and can sometimes leave your head wide in the open to be shot at, without anything you can do about it.

The graphics are very nice, with also only the occasional glitch or bug. With stunning reflective waters and rain effects, and an effective looking night-time where you are confined between small buildings, the world of Dark Sector can really pull the player into the mood and feel of the game.

The one fault with this game can be its plot. Alot of the characters are given deep emotional pasts, and seem to Hayden from many years ago, but this is never explained. You will never even encounter a flashback to help you understand each character's emotions towards Hayden. You can easily become confused as to which character Hayden trusts, as everyone has unexplained pasts with Hayden, that can easily put the player off caring about them, or becoming attached to the storyline.

Excluding this, Dark Sector is one the best third-person action games you can get for the Xbox 360, and is very underrated. It is definitely worth a playthrough or two, as it has a good amount of achievements to obtain per play-through that will keep you coming back more.

"The Glaive!"

Great games, nice and dark! especially cool since you get to fight with the Glaive, a cool version of the one from the movie Krull back in the 80's. Slow-mo flight alteration great for decapitations. Close quarter combat a little tricky against the infected though. Generally really enjoyed the game, definitely play with the lights off and the sound up!

"Unexpected Gem"

Not a bad game at all, somewhat repetitive as you progress however it covers most areas important to keep you coming back. Don't expect to be blown away but if the price is good give it a shot, you won't be disappointed

"Surprisingly good"

Bought the game due to it's references to Gears Of War game play and never hearing of it before and was surprised that it was actually quite a good game. Some elements of combat are difficult to grasp at first but over all worth giving a try

Dark Sector is a 3rd Person Shooter, with a Gears of War-style cover system. You play as Hayden Tenno, an American Special Forces Agent infiltrating a Russian Gulag. (Castle converted to research facility) However After quickly becoming a victim of a “Technocyte Virus” things start to get gruesome.

Visuals 4/5 Gritty, Dirty… Just the way it should be. Every Alleyway is stone and a gloomy reminder that your Stuck deep behind enemy lines in a post-war Soviet Russia. The streaks of blood and gore really stand out As your well rendered character dispatches his Opponents.

Sound 4/5 Perfect for the locations, abandoned towns (with only Mutated survivors to keep you company) The ambience in 5.1 surround sound really helps suck you into this Bleak world of uncertainty. The Russians speak well… Russian! Their english is good too. When it comes to Things that go boom, this game doesn't disappoint. The Weapons sound superb and explosions vibrate well Through the sub-woofer.

Gameplay 4/5 Using the Gears of War-style that practically re- Defined 3rd Person Shooters, Hayden Tenno won't last Long just standing out in the open shooting bad guys. The BIG selling point for this game however is Haydens' Glaive. Best described as a metallic 3-pronged boomerang. This device will have you slashing, Gashing & dismembering Enemies in no time. You'll also Come across upgrades for your new found weapon which Also help getting past strange new enemies & puzzles.

Controls 5/5 For any First or Third Person veteran this is almost a Pickup and play. The problem is trying to put it down. From a small game design comapny in the colder parts Of europe. This little gem is a must for those who Take pride and enjoyment in playing independant Videogames. This is not mainstream, however its bloody &… Bloody good.
