The present volume brings together thirteen contributions devoted to the history, methods, and practices of the commentaries that have been written on Aristotle's Art of Rhetoric from the East to the West, from Greco-Roman antiquity to Heidegger, and studies them in their proper context. Le present volume rassemble treize contributions dediees a l'histoire, a la methode et a la pratique des commentaires a la Rhetorique d'Aristote tels qu'ils ont ete composes, en Orient et en Occident, depuis l'Antiquite greco-romaine jusqu'a Heidegger, en les reinscrivant dans leur contexte propre.

Author Biography:

Frederique Woerther (PhD 2003, Habil. 2015) is a researcher in the CNRS. A specialist in Greek rhetorical theory of the classical and hellenistic periods, she has also studied the reception of Aristotelian philosophy in the medieval Arabic world. Frederique Woerther (PhD 2003, Habil. 2015) est chercheure au CNRS. Specialiste de l'histoire des theories rhetoriques grecques de l'age classique et hellenistique, elle a egalement consacre ses recherches a la reception de la philosophie aristotelicienne dans le monde arabe medieval. Contributors are: Feriel Bouhafa, Gaia Celli, Pierre Chiron, Iacopo Costa, Margareta Fredborg, Jean-Baptiste Gourinat, Lawrence D. Green, Daniel M. Gross, Costantino Marmo, Camille Rambourg, John Watt, Frederique Woerther, Harvey Yunis.
