Excerpt from By-Laws, Rules, Regulations and Ordinances of the Common-Council of the City of Montreal: Regles, Reglemens, Ordres, Et Ordonnances Du Conseil-De-Ville De Montreal In all cases where the execution of certain of the Regulations of Police actually existing, devolves on Justices of the Peace, whether in Special Session or out of Session, it is or dered=that the administration will belong to the Mayor of the City himself, or to two if the Corrimon Councilmen of the City, coni jointly. And the powers delegated to certain officers, such as the duties and fees to them imposed and accorded, by any such of'the said Regulations, shall be delegated, imposed, and accorded to such other officers which the common-council of the City shall from time to timename to this effect, (and replace at option, ) in any of its sittings, under such title and denomination which'it shall see fit and of such appointment public notice will be given by the Secretary of the said Common Council.
