The color woodblock print on our Bullfinch and Cherry Tree Journal dates to about 1834, and is part of Katsusika Hokusai's (1760–1849) Small Flowers series. The characters on the right represent a poem: One single bird, wet with dew, Has come out: The morning cherry.
