They have been described from the Ordovician of China, Manchuria, Korea (not from Japan), Siberia, the Urals, and the Baltic area. In the regions mentioned the Ordovician stromatoporoids are isolated or occur in great layers or biostromes. In a few places, as in Vermont and New York, they made reefs or bio'herms.
