The historical significance of each site is described in detail with the aid of maps and photographs. The village of Bullecourt, France was incorporated into the formidable Hindenburg Line when the Germans carried out their strategic withdrawal in February 1917. Attacked unsuccessfully as part of the Battle of Arras on 11th April 1917, it was finally captured in May after a second major assault.
