Description

Woodstock will never be forgotten in the minds of Boomers today. But along with ushering in the Age of Aquarius, we also ushered in a culture of drugs and alcohol. Today, Boomers and older adults are being admitted to emergency rooms for drug abuse in alarming numbers. The generations that shunned big corporations and meddling governments are now at the mercy of questionable health reform and mega-pharmaceuticals, and have become the fastest growing group of addicts in the country. Chemicals were culturally a part of the Boomers' upbringing, but now a silver tsunami is about to break on our shores. Pain management clinics are on the rise. In terms of patient care, there is a shocking lack of coordination among doctors who are not screening for depression or substance abuse. And our healthcare system is totally inadequate when it comes to reimbursement for addiction treatment and other behavioral health challenges. Now, Dr. Huysman offers a revolutionary approach to tackle the issues of mental health and addiction in Boomers and seniors today. As more of us become caretakers and seniors ourselves, he challenges us to step up and revive the independent spirit of 1969 . . . or we will die like it's 1969.
