Description

Discover Benjamin Franklin in his own words. Covering his early life until his 1757 journey to London this autobiography will be of great interest to anyone who wants to know more about the man behind the legendary founding father of the United States. Franklin started out as a printer, after some years working for his family he ran away in order to gain independence and eventually after many ups and downs came to own and produce several newspapers. He was also a prolific inventor and several of his inventions are discussed here, including the Franklin Stove. His most famous invention was the lightning rod, which is still used today to protect churches and other tall buildings and his experiments with electricity are mentioned in this autobiography as well. Many of his most momentous years, such as the founding of the United States, his time as ambassador to France and years as Postmaster are not covered, for those the curious reader will have to find biographies written by others (and there are many). For fans of Franklin however this book is an essential read! About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
