"Battlefield 4, Sure to please it's fans. + Caution to Previewer"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

EA's Battlefield Series has always felt as action-packed and full of bloodshed as it's players have longed for. Battlefield 3 proved that whilst the Call of Duty franchise has always dominated the first person shooter genre, other first person shooters can still become successful and thrive based on dynamic and interchanging environments, mixed with realistic and intense warfare. Weapon customization and game mechanics have always been the foremost aspect of Battlefield that we've enjoyed staying up all hours of the night. Battlefield 4 boasts “Unprecedented scale and scope”. In Battlefield 4, immerse yourself in the glorious chaos of all-out war. New maps, more vehicles, Weapons and destruction allow you to create your own path and play to your strengths. With new modes and settings such as Commander Mode, and better graphics (if you could believe it) Battlefield 4 will provide all first person shooter fans with the violent and chaotic means of realistic all-out warfare they desire.

To those previews who are irrelevant: If you are writing a review or preview of an item, please base it on fact and keep it to the standards of a preview. Just saying “I don't know why all of you people still by this crud” suggests trolling and undiplomatic behavious which has no place on the internet, especially if you don't even play/like the game. In other words, don't comment unless you mean to provide potential customers with legitimate information that will help them decide whether or not they like the games features, which in turn will help them make a decision whether or not to buy the game.

"Can't wait."

Wow, this game is going to be amazing. Was awesome at E3, revealing the return of ‘Commander Mode’.

"BF3 with it's socks pulled up."
5 stars"

As expected this is not much different to BF3.

Having said that, this is definitely not a bad thing. All of the kinks from BF3 have been ironed out and a ton of new features have been added.

As an example; there are now 140+ different camouflages for both vehicles and weapons (All weapons – including sidearms). There are 16 different snow camos alone!

Four fan favourite maps will also be making a return from BF3 as DLC: Operation Metro, Caspian Border, Gulf of Oman and Operation Firestorm (Night version).

As far as as the graphics are concerned I think we will see more or less the same graphical requirements, AMD will have an optimised experience at launch with driver updates from Nvidia due within a week.

By and large this is a massive improvement on BF3 but not an entirely different experience. If you liked BF3 you will want to have BF4's babies.

"EA stop pushing developers to release games earlier"
4 stars"

I hope Battlefield 4 is just as good as Battlefield 3 if not better. Based on what I watched in the 17 Minute Single player gameplay they are making the Single Player more immersive for players creating a emotional bond with characters and the player.

"Should be a BF3 Expansion"
2 stars"

EA are starting to turn the Battlefield franchise into Call of Duty (basically the same game pushed out as “new” every year). As a very long time Battlefield fan I am very disappointed in BF4, the engine looks very similar to BF3, the setting, weapons, vehicles are all very similar as well, why is this a completely new game instead of an expansion- EA wants more money. In many ways I still prefer BF:BC2 or BF3 to BF4, many features that did exist in these games have been either toned down, or removed. E.g. the destructibility is basically all gone, in the previous games you could blow up almost anything, in BF4 (from playing demo/beta), the only building that gets properly destroyed has a scripted destruction that looks the same every time (and looks bad).

I will buy this game, just because I have every other BF game, but the franchise really is starting to turn into just a cash cow instead of a good game.

"This game will blow, stop giving EA money!"
1 stars"

Oh great another High contrast COD clone that is nothing like the battlefield of old, oh great they have taken content out of the game and are making you pay extra, oh great another terrible shooter with no option for LAN.

Why do you people still buy this crud-

"I'm not so sure" Purchased on Mighty Ape

BF2 was the absolute best in online team gaming for this franchise. It has gone backwards since then:

  • Dice should never have sold to EA, it changed their ethos
  • That there will be DLC available for purchase from day one is a little tactless and cheeky
  • Good that commander mode is back (finally)
  • What's up with all these stupid ranks
  • Aircraft and Chopper flying isn't real enough, too arcadish

"Fun but poorly optimized at the moment."
3 stars"

The current BF 4 beta is extremely poorly optimized and is unplayable without expensive top of the line hardware, I am confident that Dice will fix this before the full release however just be aware in its current build it is extremely laggy.

"BETA is trash, hopefully DICE actually listen for once.."
2 stars"

Played 25+ hours of the BETA, it's… Abysmal to say the least- Poorly optimised (40FPS on same settings for 120fps in BF3), DirectX crashes constantly, and I'm one of the ones with few problems…

Granted, it's only a BETA, but it's such a shambles that I'm reconsidering pre-ordering… DICE have a lot of work to do, and not that much time to do it. There exists the possibility for this to be the best FPS in recent years, but much needs to be addressed.
