My siblings loved ‘Badjelly the Witch’ in the 70s; my kids loved her in the 1990s and now the next generation loves her, too. Quirky, wacky, fun and definitely UNscary – this is a classic fairytale with a unique Spike Milligan twist. Sometimes it's like a steam of consciousness – one gets the sense that he made it up while telling it as a bedtime story to his own children. The print (it's handwritten in Milligan's own writing) can be challenging for early readers/grandparents without the right specs (!) but it's an enduring classic. Read all about the adventures of Tim and Rose, their cow Luce, Fluffybum the cat, Dinglemouse, Dulboot the giant and Jim the eagle – as well as Badjelly the Witch herself.

Loved Bad Jelly the Witch and Fluffy bum the cat when I was a kid. I was pleased to have found a copy to share with my kids. They love it too!
This has to be one of my all time favourite books from childhood, and now I get to share it with my daughter. Great story, wonderful descriptive funny, Spike Milligan at his best.
I had forgotten how much fun this story was until I read it to my 6yr old daughter. A great story for kids and adults alike and the pictures are great. Very funny characters and lots of silliness make a great read. A true classic that will be well read in our house.
I brought this book to read to my nephew as a bed time story and just as I had loved it as a child, so does he. It is a beautiful story that allows him to experience a range of emotions (which is great exposure to naming these emotions as a 4 year old) and he enjoys the difference in text and illustrations to other books. This book is great I have the CD and the DVD Spike Milligan is an old favourite remember the Bad jelly the witch when I was a kid.
