Through the medium of parochial announ cements the faithful are brought into contact with the exterior life of the Church, and the Pastor keeps ln touch with his parishioners, informing them of the religious events which make up the course of parish life, recalling to them the various Christian obligations, instructing them in the directions and wishes of ecclesiastical author ity, advising, reproaching, and encouraging them with the authority and watchful zeal of a true father in Christ. These announcements are usually listened to with great attention. A zealous Pastor will therefore profit by this opportunity to give, in abrief and practical manner, instructions which are all the more effectual when they are heard with interest and without fatigue.
