Description

Excerpt from A Treatise on the Law of Inland Carriers Few branches of the Law involve questions of more daily practical interest and importance than the Law of Carriers; and yet it is a branch which, hitherto, has attracted little systematic treatment by any member of the Profession. The American treatise, by Mr. Angel], is the only modern work on the subject; and it is deservedly a work of high authority in the Courts. But the last edition of it was published many years since; and the multitude of cases, which have been decided subsequently in the English Courts, appeared to call for a new digest and treatise. Many also of the Common Law principles, which are recognized in the American Courts, have been either modified in England, or altogether varied by the legis lature. In this treatise, therefore, the author has at tempted to supply a patent deficiency in Law libraries, and to give the consolidated results of the latest acts of Parliament and decisions of the Courts.
