The author has been for a long while impressed with the im portance of a system of classification which would present to the learner, remedies grouped together, and classes named in accord ance with their natural, direct physiological action. In the accomplishment of this object, it is believed that incalculable advantage is afforded in the study of remedies and their thera peutie use. The increased facilities for learning and appreciating the direct action of medicine, will doubly compensate for the inconvenience and confusion arising from new names of classes, and the change of certain agents from their usual arrangement in works on Materia Medica.
